  CAFA Facilities and Services

The College has its own CAFA Building in the 120-hectare USC Talamban Campus, 8 kilometers away from Cebu downtown area. With the lush greenery and quiet environment, the Talamban campus is an ideal place for education and learning.

The College has state-of-the-art facilities that provide the opportunity for the students to explore their potential and prepare for their entry into a noble profession. Its facilities include wide, well-ventilated lecture rooms and Design Studios, air-conditioned Theaters, audio-video editing room, photo laboratory, painting studios, a Computer Center and library. Other units in the College that hone the students into responsible professionals are the Architecture Computer Training Center (ACC), ACC Service Bureau, Institute for Planning and Design (IPD), Community Extension Service(CES), Video Post-Production Facility (VPPF) and the Architecture Conservation Studio.

Laboratories
At present, CAFA maintains two (2) computer laboratories at the facility as Architecture Computer Center (CAFA-ACC). These two (2) computer training rooms have thirty (30) stations each and are both equipped with a multi-media screen and projector. These are for the use of Architecture, Fine Arts, and Engineering students for ES 12 & 14 classes as well as trainees from the industries. These will be augmented once the planned CAFA interim is constructed.

ACC Service Bureau
For students and clients from within and outside the University, this is the place to go for plotting, encoding, scanning, and hands-on facilities.

Library
The library contains voluminous stack of books and can seat 171 persons including the 9 study carrels. It has a knowledge navigation counter with 10 computer stations for library networking and internet research, not to mention the four (4) OPAC stations. A welcome addition to library services are the two (2) discussion rooms.

Theater
There are two (2) theaters: the Main Theater and the Lecture Theater. The Main Theater is equipped with a 5.1 Dolby sound surround System and has a state-of-the-art wide theater screen. Since the CAFA Building’s inauguration, this 300-seat capacity place has been the venue for the audio-visual activities of the college, as well as, those of the other Colleges in the University. The theater has also been witness to affairs of regional and even national in scope. The Lecture Theater has a convertible seating of 44 to 88 seats. It is equipped with a wireless projector and a multi-media screen.

Design Studios
Distributed on three (3) levels on the curved wing are the design studios for Architecture and Interior Design students with a total of 340 stations and with an exhibit area in the Atrium. A station is exclusive to a 3rd to 5th year level student for a whole semester.

Fine Arts Laboratories
A painting studio is also found in the building which can accommodate 30 students and has a toilet and locker room. The photography lab has a photo studio and a darkroom. There is a graphic studio and an advertising studio, which, both have a sink and work tables. On the same level is the editing lab complete with 14 editing stations, a sound booth and a faculty-in-charge office.

Classrooms and lecture Rooms
The building contains five (5) air-conditioned classrooms, two (2) of which have areas for two (2) discussion tables; four (4) standard-sized classrooms; and two (2) 100-seat lecture rooms for the design studios.

Administration Offices and Faculty Rooms
Overlooking the front grounds at the center of the second floor is the Dean’s office with a reception area and an adjoining conference room. On the same floor are the offices of the two (2) departments, Architecture and Fine Arts, with their own reception-lounge area with a table/nook for faculty and student discussion. Accessed via connecting doors are the respective faculty rooms for each department complete with their own lounge, mini-kitchen and restrooms.

Auxiliary Offices
Situated beside the Dean’s office are offices that share a common reception area and toilet facilities: Research, Alumni and CES (Community Extension Service). These offices are there to put the College in-constant-touch with related industries, to access scientific answers to scholarly questions, to maintain ties with its graduates and to share what it has to those who need it.

Lockers
For students’ storage needs, there are two types of lockers provided: the horizontal and the vertical type which number a total of 750 units. These are available for one school year use.

Basketball Court and Parking
As practice venue for the CAFA basketball team and for use of those students who need the physical break from their artistic and intellectual pursuits a basketball court is provided. Beside the court is the students’ parking area of about 20 slots. On the other side of the building and on the basement, ample parking areas are provided for the faculty and guests.
