  Dean’s Message

Welcome to our website! Through these few pages, we hope to give the world at large, a good idea of our College, its aspirations and its achievements. To our beloved alumni, especially to those who have not been to visit us for some time, we hope you derive a certain pride in what your College has turned out to be since you last walked its halls. For indeed, much has transpired in the last few years, not least among which was the completion last year of the College of Architecture and Fine Arts Building at the Talamban Campus. Thus, while the rest of the country was in the depths of political uncertainty, the University of San Carlos, true to its culture, has boldly invested in the future. As a result, the USC, and specifically our College is able to respond quickly to our community’s needs in improving its programs and developing new ones.

This coming semester starting June 2006, we shall be opening our much awaited graduate program in architecture, with initial offerings in Urban Design, Landscape Architecture and Architectural Science. It is a response to the need for added expertise in the practice and the academe, for those professionals serving in the small towns and cities in the Visayas and Mindanao, who are very often the only resource in their respective communities for expertise in the design of the built environment.

In the offing are proposed courses in Industrial Design, Animation, and Graphic Arts-- skills that are much needed in our growing economy, but are as yet unserved by academe. In responding to these needs, the College aims to maintain its relevance as an institution, and through its standards of excellence, hopes to turn out graduates worthy of service to the nation.

We welcome your comments and your suggestions, or your requests for more information if the information you need is not available in these pages. We will welcome most especially, letters from our alumni—wherever you are in the world, to give us your thoughts and to inform us of your circumstances. We shall keep our website as current as possible to keep you all abreast of the goings on in the College.
